Dr. Verkhoshansky,
First, it is an honor to be able to communicate with you. My question is regarding block periodization for powerlifting. In a nutshell, should the number of weekly training days decrease as we move along in the blocks due to the increased intensity used in loading the competition lifts? For example, in Block A, the intensity is not as high and therefore the load being used does not place as much strain on the Central Nervous System. However, in Block B, the intensity increases. Of course, in Block C it increases even more so. So, should the number of lifting days per week be changed as the intensity increases from block to block to allow more time for physical and Central Nervous System recovery? Thank you for your time, Dr. Verkhoshansky.
