Kettlebells
Dear Proffessor Verkhoshansky,

I wonder what is your oppinion regarding kettlebells swings, snatches, jerks, or strength lifts(press, turkish getup). Can you increase max strength and starting strength using kettlebells? What about ligament and connective tissue strength?

Re: Kettlebells

Dear Diaconu Gabriel,

1. I wonder what is your opinion regarding kettlebells swings, snatches, jerks, or strength lifts (press, turkish getup).

The use of kettelbells as overload instead of barbell in traditional Weightlifting exercises (swings, snatches, jerks) changes their biodynamic structure.

These exercises with kettelbells could be used as general preparation means or for fitness.

 2. Can you increase max strength and starting strength using kettlebells?

Yes, if you use the kettkebell exercises in a correct muscle work regime.

For example, the Kettlebell squat jumps are an excellent training means for explosive strength development.

3. What about ligament and connective tissue strength?
I suppose you are talking about the connective tissue solidity.

I usually don’t wish answer in a field where I am not professional, this question has to be indexed to a medical doctor.

Re: Kettlebells
Dr. Verkhoshansky,

What are your thoughts on the Turkish Get Up, as promoted by Pavel Tsatsouline, for GPP?

Do you consider the Kettlebell Snatch as a highly effective source of cardiovascular conditioning?

If you were allowed to exercise with kettlebells & bodyweight exercises ONLY, for GPP, would you feel limited?

Thank You
Danny
