Dr. Verkhoshansky,
During my research on proper squat techinque, I have read in many different places that the athlete should actively push the knees out while executing the squat. The reasoing is that pushing the knees out will activate the abductors and glutes while performing the lift, while also fighting the knees natural tendency to turn inwards.
When I personally perform a squat, and push my knees out. It feels as if i am placing too much pressure on the lateral portions of my knee, in comparison to when I don't push the knee out and just keep the knee in line, not out and not in, the knee does not feel as stressed . What are your thoughts on the proper position of the knee when performing a squat? Do you think pushing the knees out will lead to injuries?

you don't have to really push the knees out, but just don't let them get inside..
your feeling can also depend on the conformation of you knee
